Mona Lisa to perform in Star Bharat’s Nimki Mukhiya

Actress Mona Lisa has been roped in to perform at an upcoming wedding sequence of TV show Nimki Mukhiya.

Mona, whose real name is Antara Biswas, will be seen performing on the song “Aa re pritam pyaare” at the engagement ceremony of Nimki (Bhumika Gurung) and Babbu Singh (Abhishek Sharma).

“Though I was on the show only for a song, my entire experience while shooting for it was amazing. The entire cast is so energetic and welcoming. I really loved the entire set-up, especially my costume that was designed for the dance. Hope the audience enjoys my dance number,” Mona said in a statement.

Nimki Mukhiya is aired on Star Bharat.

Tanuja Chandra to work on two scripts

Director Tanuja Chandra, whose film “Qarib Qarib Singlle” has hit the screens, says she will begin working on two scripts.

Tanuja donned the director’s hat after nine years but has not been sitting idle.

I completed two other scripts after my film ‘Hope & A Little Sugar’ in 2008. I’ll be going into those films, now that ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ is ‘qarib qarib’ done with,” she said.

Her mother is the author Kamna Chandra who wrote films like “Prem Rog” and “Chandni”. “Qarib Qarib Singlle”, which released on Friday, is based on one of Kamna’s works.

‘Qarib Qarib Singlle’ is actually based on a radio play that my mother wrote 20 years ago. When I came across it, I realised how contemporary it remained in spite of the time passage,” said Tanuja.

The director, who is single in real life, identifies with her leading lady played by Malayalam actress Parvathy in her film.

A lot of women of a certain age feel the way Parvathy’s character does. And though Irrfan Khan’s character comes across as obnoxious, some women do like attention from caring men even if they are exhibitionists the way Irrfan is in my film,” she said.

Tanuja feels the one thing that she learnt during the making of the film is to love her own country’s topography.

We went to the most beautiful places in India like Rishikesh and Gangtok. And we discovered how beautiful India is. If nothing else, I hope the one takeaway for the audience from my film would be the unexplored beauty of India’s heartland,” she said.
